#SeedsOfPeace

Seeds of Peace Digital Environmental Tool
Visualizing Water Through the Community Lens: Digital Environmental Conflict Tool : This project is still in it's early stages of development and part of the project I plan on doing as part of my Environmental Justice Fellowship.
The fellowship is a
part of the PNW Just Futures Institute, and works with the Holden Center for Student Leadership. As part of the fellowship,  I'll be working on a service project that "directly impacts their community and helps redress environmental injustices".

The project's goal is to develop an interactive digital tool supporting communities in communicating and addressing environmental injustices. The project invites community members to be citizen scientists, participating in gathering data and leading the conversation. Data is visualized on maps identifying locations with current water issues and can be used to guide people to resources to meet water related needs. Features would include emergency alerts and preparedness, educational games, conflict assessment/resolution tools, messaging, and other info specific to the community. The focus is on empowering communities and building capacity to address and visualize current environmentally related events and improving communication among all stakeholders.

This project is still in the early stages and I am doing research focused on digital tools used in conflict resolution processes, community based approaches, water, water policies and environmental conflicts related to water. By the end of 2022 I will have completed the first phase of my project and will have an update to share.

Students for Indigenous Rights and Environmental Justice (SIREJ) - 2019 : A University of Oregon registered student organization reporting to the Global Studies Department with faculty advisors Derrick Hindery, Jose Martinez, and Zulma Villegas. SIREJ is associated with the Global Engagement (GEO) service learning study abroad program, "Indigenous Rights and Environmental Justice in Bolivia". I am one of the founding member of SIREJ and one of the Student Leaders (2019-20 and 2020-21).

SIREJ is a volunteer student organization collaborating with indigenous peoples and organization on indigenous led projects that include sustainable community development, partnering on events that create space and a platform for indigenous voices, fundraising, and creating awareness related to indigenous rights and environmental justice.

Many of my projects are related to the work I do for SIREJ in collaboration with the many volunteers that keep SIREJ alive. SIREJ exists because of the generosity of volunteers, support of donors, our several indigenous partners which include the Guarayos, Guaraní, Chiquitano, and Ayoreo indigenous communities in Bolivia, and faculty advisors from Oregon and Bolivia.
